Anita de Martinez

Prior to the pandemic, Anita de Martinez worked as a fashion designer for a prestigious company. However, when the pandemic hit, she and many of her coworkers were let go. Despite her initial disappointment, Anita felt this was her opportunity to do something she had always wanted - start her own clothing brand. She enrolled in Start Now to learn more. 

Anita decided to start her own mask-making business. Facing uncertainty, she consistently reminded herself of something she learned at Start Now - to look fear in the face and stop it. This mental practice gave her the courage to move forward with her enterprise. 

Start Now helped Anita recognize that she needed vision to grow her business - a vision of where she wanted to be five years down the road. She shared “[Because of what I learned at the Academy] I started thinking about my brand and what I wanted it to be. I was able to use so many tools I learned at the Academy: marketing, breakeven analysis, and the 25 rules of thumb. [These all] helped me immensely.”

Anita likewise expressed gratitude for her husband who has been incredibly supportive of her accomplishing her dreams. They often reflect and remind each other of the principles they learned at Start Now as they continue working on their entrepreneurial ventures.
