Business Beyond Country Borders

Nieves Teresa Bastidas | Venezuela

Nieves Teresa Bastidas, a widowed mother to three children, has been a member of the Bolíva chapter in Venezuela for over a year. She shares her experience below.

“When I first retired, my income was insufficient. I had worked sporadically in sewing but decided to start sewing formally and regularly. I invested in some old machines that I owned and gradually introduced myself to various fields of clothing.

Every day there were challenges I had to overcome in order to achieve the goals I set for myself. Through the Academy courses, I was able to apply principles and Rules of Thumb such as keeping records, focusing on finding new advertising alternatives, working long enough to always have merchandise available, etc.

I have managed to improve and boost my business beyond country borders. As in Venezuela, my creations are very popular in Brazil and Colombia and I'm thinking of expanding to even more countries. I hope to achieve a substantial improvement in my quality of life, specifically in being better able to provide food and medications for myself. I want to help my family and be an example in the Church, the chapter and my community.”
