Gowns, Uniforms & Dance: My Opportunity!

Silvana Espinoza | Ecuador

Silvana Espinoza, a single mother of three young children, shares her entrepreneurial journey:

“I’ve been running my sewing business for four years. In the beginning, I started with a straight-stitch sewing machine to which I installed a small motor; since, it was quite difficult for me to acquire an industrial sewing machine due to a lack of capital. Little by little, I got my startup going.

My business was originally called Moda y Costura Silvana (Silvana Fashion and Sewing). I was able to gain experience and earn the trust of the people who became my clients. As time passed, I began to expand my business into the school system by putting up flyers. Through this, I landed the opportunity to make the athletic uniforms and graduation gowns.

I also offer my services to the Fundación Nausan de Baile y Danza (Nausan Dance Foundation), making the uniforms and costumes for each presentation and performance.

My business is now called SILVANA ESPINOZA ATELIER.

Ever since my participation in the Academy and my course enrollment as a beginner entrepreneur, I have been able to develop myself in the best way and experience so many exciting advances. Because of my success, I now have an industrial grade sewing machine, which helps me work much more efficiently.

I thank God for the opportunity to have met such wonderful people and to have learned many important things for improving my business through the Academy.”
