Overcoming Fear with Faith Oscar Dávila | Bolivia

Oscar Dávila | La Paz,

Bolivia

“Every time I participate in an Academy course, I leave feeling more inspired and motivated.”

After returning from his mission, Oscar Dávila, from La Paz, Bolivia wanted to start his own business. However, Oscar describes being held back by his fears. He didn’t know where or how to begin.

When the pandemic hit, he felt he wanted to start a pest control business. He told his friends about this idea and was surprised that several people, even close friends, discouraged him from doing so. Despite the opposition, Oscar moved forward with faith and decided to participate in Start Now. Oscar recalls a few principles from this Academy course that were especially helpful for growing his business. These principles include valuing one’s work and providing quality service and products for customers.

He shared, “My mission president always talked about self-sufficiency. [He said] that the Lord desires servants who are self-sufficient. My dream has always been to serve the Lord and help those in need. As my business grows, I hope to have the ability to help and employ people who need it. I also hope to train people who want to start a business but have similar fears like I did. Every time I participate in an Academy course, I leave feeling more inspired and motivated...I know if we take advantage of the courses at the Academy, the Lord will help us. We will be able to enjoy all of His blessings.”
